We maintain a growing list of free & inexpensive resources over on our website that hasn't been updated for a while, so I wanted to come here and ask around!

I'm personally a big fan of Anydice for testing out dice math and Photopea for when I need to mess with smart objects for making mockups.

What are your favorite resources for TTRPG design? These can be anything: places to get assets, tools to use, platforms that help you get inspired.

Big fan of this foundry for distinctive display fonts. Pretty much everything they have is free, $5, or $10.

https://unsplash.com/ Unsplash is my favorite site for finding photos for basically anything, and a few museums have uploaded part of their collections as well. Everything there is free to use without attribution so, pretty sick!

I love unsplash, but I use https://www.rawpixel.com/ to get Public Domain art that isn't photography. They have a filter for public domain and you can dig through tons and tons of art that's free to use.

nice! rawpixel is a really good one, I also like using https://www.loc.gov/free-to-use/ for art, they have a BUNCH of really really old sketches and drawings that are fully public domain.

Oh yeah, the Library of Congress is a great resource. Works created by the U.S. Government are not eligible for copyright protection and are considered public domain, so I used photographs from the Farm Security Administration aftermath of the Great Depression https://www.loc.gov/pictures/collection/fsac/ for The Last Hand. There are still privacy laws, so I made sure to leave out pictures of people but the landscapes are incredible.
